Study: "Older People in Companies"

From January to September 2006, Zoom e.V. investigated in co-operation with the Regional Association of Southern Lower Saxony e.V. the employment situation of older employees in companies in the County of Göttingen. The study was part of the "Experience you can count on! Employment Compact for Older People in the Region of Göttingen". It analysed the age structure of companies in the County and look at employment strategies which companies follow in order to react to the change of the demographic structure of society. How are the experiences and potentials of older employees used, how do companies respond to their needs in the design of workplaces and work schedules? These questions have been examined with a poll in companies as well as through interviews with human resource managers, shop stewards and employees. In September 2006, the results of the study have been presented in a report and are a source for further planning of employment policies in the region of Göttingen.
